fastidiously fastidious

no spam!

WordPress is very good at filtering out spam comments. Their comment moderation system was part of the reason I switched. Every so often I run my eye over the spam section to check nothing has been misidentified – it doesn’t happen much, but every so often a genuine comment is marked as spam.

I do find some of the comments funny though – it’s the link to their website they want you to follow, of course, but sometimes the accompanying words make me grin.

Such as:

“Thanks in support of sharing such a fastidious idea, post is fastidious, thats why i have read it fully”

(sic)

Gosh, I do feel fastidious today.

Yes, they can be really funny. But also makes you think about language barriers and how misunderstandings easily occur when a particular word means something slightly different to the person reading or hearing it than to the person who used it.
Presumably they are written in another language and translated by a computer on a word for word basis with no allowance for context.
